Candidates have to prepare properly to clear each of these exams to be eligible for CGL interview round. SSC decides the minimum cutoff percentage to qualify in the computer based examination. SSC CGL Preparation Tips – Tips & Tricks to Score High in SSC CGL Tier I Exam

Here are some useful tips and study methods you can follow to score high in the CGL Online Exam.

Know Your Exam

1. Exam pattern: You must properly familiar yourself with the exam pattern of the CGL online or description exam. You can find the detailed exam pattern and structure online or in the SSC CGL official notification. CGL Tier-I exam is conducted online and includes only objective type questions.

2. Exam Syllabus: Download and print a copy of the CGL exam syllabus before you start the preparation. Make notes of your strong and weak topics and the topics that are important from exam point of view. Make a study plan according to the syllabus and available time.

Study with a Plan

3. It is very important to make and follow a proper study plan to achieve desired results. Even if you are studying for only 3-4 hours a day, you can get selected in CGL only if you do it right with planning. Make a study plan for the entire year or the time left before the exam.

4. Subjects’ priority: Make a plan such that you can cover more important topics and subjects first. Subjects like English and GK can be solved in less time than Aptitude and Reasoning papers. Plan accordingly and prepare for the same.

Self-Study or Coaching Institute

5. Many students get confused between joining a coaching institute or self-study for SSC CGL. We recommend joining a good coaching class if you have enough time. A good tutor can guide you to the right study path to follow to achieve better results in the exam. You will be given some really good tips to improve your speed and problem solving skills.

6. Self-study is recommended only if you have 2 or 3 months left for the exam, or if you are confident enough to clear SSC CGL with self-study. Make sure to purchase and read a good CGL Exam book to prepare for the online exam. Take help from friends and online tutorials for more study resources.

Time Management

7. While studying: To make sure to cover all the topics, subjects, and practice enough in the given time, you should work on your speed and time-management skills. Make a strict study plan and follow it very sharply. Practice a lot to improve your question-solving speed. Practice online mock tests as well.

8. In the exam: Time management during the exam is very crucial to finish the entire paper on time. First, solve the easier questions and topics that need less time like English and GK questions. Then, try and solve as many Aptitude and reasoning questions you can finish in time. Do not waste much time on a single question.

Practice

9. Practice with sample papers: Whatever book you are using to prepare for the CGL exam, you can find related questions for each topic. Solve these questions and practice with many other questions as you can. Download SSC papers, previous years’ papers, mock tests online and practice with them.

10. Practice every day: Practice and revise at the end of the day everything that you’ve self-studied or learned at the coaching institute. Note down important points, equations, and formulas for better revision.

During the Exam

11. Arrive at the exam center before time. Do not waste any time during the exam. Read the paper quickly as soon as you get it. Start with the questions that you can solve easily and in less time. Do not spend much time on one question. Spare enough time for revision at the end.
